What is retinol and how does it work?
Retinol belongs to the family of retinoids—that is, the various forms of vitamin A. In the body, it is gradually converted into the active form retinoic acid, which then directly penetrates the cell nucleus and stimulates cellular metabolism. The result:
- The skin renews itself faster,
- collagen production is stimulated
- and the complexion appears more even.
Chris Farrell uses retinyl palmitate. It is the mildest and most stable form of vitamin A. This precursor is converted by the skin itself into retinol, making it particularly well-tolerated. Our products are ideal for anyone who wants to benefit from retinol without risking redness or sensitivity.
What can retinyl palmitate do for your skin?
Vitamin A in the form of retinyl palmitate is a true all-rounder. The key benefits at a glance:
- Cell renewal: Retinyl palmitate stimulates the skin’s natural renewal process and ensures that dead cells are shed more quickly.
- Balancing: It restores balance to skin that has become unbalanced—whether due to environmental factors, mineral oils, or sebum imbalances.
- Protection against premature aging: Vitamin A supports collagen production and helps make the skin more resilient over the long term.
- Clarification: For blemished or rough skin, retinyl palmitate gently dissolves rough patches and unclogs follicle openings.
Who are retinol products suitable for?
The good news: Thanks to the mild form Retinyl Palmitate, Chris Farrell’s retinol creams are suitable for nearly every skin type.
You can particularly benefit from retinol with the following skin conditions:

Our skincare tips for using retinol
Tip 1: Start gently and consistently
If you’re using retinyl palmitate for the first time, we recommend applying the product daily in the morning and/or evening to cleansed skin. The mild form of vitamin A in our products usually makes a gradual introduction unnecessary.
Tip 2: Proper cleansing as a foundation
Thorough yet gentle cleansing is essential before applying a retinol cream. The Soft Skin Cleanser optimally prepares the skin without stripping its natural protective barrier.
Tip 3: Combine for Best Results
Retinyl palmitate works best when the skin is well-prepared. Combine your retinol cream with a suitable serum or concentrate to provide the skin with additional moisture and support regeneration.
Tip 4: Pay attention to sun protection
Vitamin A can slightly increase the skin’s sensitivity to light. If you use a retinol cream during the day, additional sun protection is recommended on sunny days.
